Formatting code in WordPress 2.0+

One thing that took me a while to get up and running was formatting code correctly in WordPress 2.0+. Here are the steps:

1. Go download and install the Code Markup plugin.
2. In the WordPress admin area, go to Options > Writing and uncheck “Users should use the visual rich editor by default” and uncheck “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically”. Click Update Options.
3. Click Users and at the bottom of the screen uncheck “Use the visual rich editor when writing” and click Update Profile.

Now you should be able to enter code tags when writing posts. :)
